About Feltham

Feltham is a town in West London, England, 13 miles from Charing Cross.

Historically part of Middlesex, it became part of the London Borough of Hounslow in 1965.

The parliamentary constituency of Feltham and Heston has been held by Labour Party MPs since 1992.

In 2011, the population of the combined census area of Feltham, Bedfont and Hanworth was 63,368.

Feltham is served by a mainline railway station which connects it to London Waterloo.

Trains can take anywhere from 29 minutes to 45 minutes depending on the number of stops.A ticket costs £8.60 off peak at the time of writing.

There is no tube line connecting to Feltham. The nearest tube line is the Piccadilly Line from Hatton Cross or Hounslow West.

The area is well supported with road however with good access to motorways and fast roads.

Feltham is a diverse area with mixes of various ethnicities, religions and cultures.

The majority of population in Feltham is White British (38.8%) or Asian (39.1%).

But there are also a number of people from Black backgrounds who call the area home (10.8%).

The majority of the population in Feltham is employed (71.2%), with the most common occupations being professional occupations (22.4%).

This is followed by administrative and secretarial occupations (15.3%) then sales and customer service occupations (14.4%).

The unemployment rate in Feltham is 3.8%, which is slightly lower than the average for London (4.2%).

The most common religions are Christianity (36.5%), Hinduism (26.6%), and Islam (20.3%).

The area has got entertainment for all the family, some highlights are as follows.

Hounslow Urban Farm

For animal lovers or those with children, a great day out is Hounslow Urban Farm.

The venue is a well equipped attraction where you can pet and feed barnyard animals. It is also home to snakes and Thai water dragons.

Hampton and Kempton Waterworks Railway

This heritage railway offers steam and diesel train rides through the beautiful Thames Valley countryside.

Kids will love seeing the trains up close and taking a ride on one.

In terms of prices, it’s very reasonable at £4 for adults 16yrs and over, £2 for children 3 to 15 years and under 3s go free.

Bedfont Lakes Country Park

Probably the highlight of the area is the fantastic Bedfont Lakes Country Park.

This large park offers a variety of activities for all ages, including walking, cycling, fishing, and boating.

There is also a children’s playground and a café. Kids will love playing in the park and enjoying the activities on offer.

Namaste Gurkha

Feltham is full of excellent Indian restaurants but our pick is the Namaste Gurkha.

It is known for its authentic Nepalese and Indian cuisine, which is prepared using fresh, high-quality ingredients.

The menu features a wide variety of dishes, including curries, tandoori dishes, and biryanis. There are also a number of vegetarian and vegan options available.

We found it to have a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the staff are friendly and attentive.

Overall, Namaste Gurkha is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal with family and friends.

Verdict – Feltham Area Guide

From our trip to Feltham we found it to be a leafy, pleasent suburb.

The crime rates should be concerning to people considering the area but we felt safe and welcome when we were there.

Property prices are fair considering the balance of pros and cons, and given the links to Waterloo we understand why it is a popular commuter area.

Overall if you are looking for a nice place to live or visit without the associated price tag, Feltham is a good option.
